Week 5: Geospatial Data
Hello all,
Week 5 is here and it is time to learn more about how to visualize geospatial data. Geospatial data includes plotting data on maps using visualizations like choropeths or colormaps, but also learn that sometimes a map is not the best way to visualize geographic data and show other methods such as cartograms which can be used in those cases. There are a number of inherent challenges and pitfalls that arise when making plots of data distributed to geographic units, including the modifiable area unit problem (or the ecological fallacy) which you must be aware of to avoid misleading with visualizations. We will talk about all these issues and more.
Go to Module 5 to read more about the weekly material. Story 3 has also been posted and is due in two weeks, Sunday at midnight.
Thanks,
Sincerely
George
